La compagnie aérienne low cost AirAsia lancera en mars prochain une nouvelle liaison entre Bangkok et Colombo, sa 25eme au départ de la capitale de Thaïlande.
A partir du 1er mars 2012, la compagnie à bas coûts malaisienne reliera l’aéroport de Bangkok – Suvarnabhumi à celui de la capitale du Sri Lanka tous les jours, à bord des Airbus A320 de sa filiale thaïlandaise Thai AirAsia.

Les vols décolleront à 6h25 pour arriver à 8h35, et repartiront de Colombo à 9h35 pour atterrir à 14h15. La concurrence est rude sur cet axe, déjà desservi par Thai Airways, SriLankan Airlines et Cathay Pacific.

Civil war lasted for for more than 30 years in Sri Lanka. Now that the conflict has ended hundreds of thousands of people have been left homeless or forced to live in IDP camps. They have lost their homes, their lively hoods and now have little chance of providing a better life for their children.

These are the people of conflict, people whose daily life is one of survival.

Jaffna is the northern capital of the Tamil area of Sri Lanka. Not long ago it was the center of the Sri Lankan civil war, but today Jaffna remains safe to visit as a tourist.

Jaffna town (யாழ்ப்பாணம்) is full of rich Tamil culture, a great place to hit the streets are explore the local food and flavors of town.

During this Jaffna travel video I walk around on Beach Road, eat a delicious Sri Lankan food breakfast of paratha bread and pol sambol (coconut garnish), check out the Jaffna Fort, walk past countless old building ruins, take a chaotic walk straight through the center of Jaffna town, eat a sour Jaffna mango, visit Nallur Kovil Hindu Temple for a 4pm traditional ceremony, dine on traditional local style Tamil Jaffna food, and finally taste for the first time a cup of thick wood apple juice!

Jaffna town (யாழ்ப்பாணம்) is an amazing town with a rich history and a very interesting culture. There are many things to do in Jaffna and a lot of places to see.

Mi-août, après avoir quitté la ville de Tissamaharama au petit matin, au sud est de l’île et à quelques kilomètres du grand Parc national de Yala, c’est par le bus que mon ami et moi-même rejoignons Haputale, à 1580 mètres d’altitude. A noter : s’il y a bien une chose à laquelle il faut s’habituer au Sri Lanka, ce sont les longues heures de trajets pour de courtes distances. Concrètement, pour effectuer 60 kilomètres, il nous a fallu rouler plus de quatre heures. A travers les vitres du bus qui amorce les premiers virages montagneux, on peut en revanche apprécier la végétation luxuriante qui borde la route et s’étonner de l’apparence sculpturale de certains troncs d’arbres. Les fleurs colorent cette toile verte en la ponctuant de leurs tonalités pigmentées. Côté climat, l’air se rafraîchit, ce qui n’est pas pour nous déplaire.
