Most of these kids are from the Karen Tribe, from the northern mountains of Thailand.
They come to the boarding school from families who are in extreme poverty. You'd never know it, though, from the smiles on their faces.

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
An urban hell, a of the most inhospitable in the world, a concentration of degradation and poverty, growing desperate in the slums of the suburbs the limit of human dignity.
A population that seeks a better future for their children, a population for which the world and Western society seems to have closed doors in his face, a population that continues to fight and smile.

[ FACES ] is a series of portraits realized in the city of Bangkok. The inhabitants, their life, their wish, their dreams. The format is voluntarily short. I did not want to make a documentary on these people, but a slice of life, one moment of their life, as a photo has which we would had sound.
This one was the first from the series, and made me want to shoot more.
more to come...
Songyang Uthatoon was born in the North east ofThailand. He lives now in Bangkok in the district of Khlong Toey, one the most discriminated by the city. He works as mechanic, he is 45 years old....

The Shwedagon pagoda is this most sacred pagoda in Burma. In addition to being layered with 90 tons of gold and being topped by a diamond that could choke a whale, the Shwedagon is a sacred relic sight; it contains eight hairs of Gautama Buddha and the staff, robe and water filter of three Buddhas before him.
This short film is of my impressions from a visit last evening when we entered by the East entrance. At the end of the evening I recorded a lay woman singing sutras, and this is the soundtrack to 'An Evening at the Shwedagon'.
