Shan State...a place where the cultivation and distribution of opium has produced insurmountable social issues; where in some areas only 4% of children go to school; and where access to healthcare is extremely difficult or non-existent; and where natural resources are exploited and most of the state is in a forced ceasefire with the regime...it is here that Partners is training community healthcare workers, re-building education infrastructure, and providing scholarships to students whom otherwise would not have a chance to study.
This is the story of one student medic. He survived a devastating childhood, one robbed by the Burma Army. Yet through perseverance, hard work and a chance to study, he will continue to save lives and is a beacon of hope for his community.

Scavenger
Living off the grid in a northeast Thailand slum, Wichan Chaona collects recyclables from public trash bins to earn money for his family of seven. Shot from his motorcycle side cart, ‘Scavenger’ poetically weaves Wichan's daily routine with his observations about life and work, reminding us of the universal roots of human dignity and respect.
